On the palate there is bright toasted oak, lots of citrus fruits (orange and grapefruit), a healthy note of pepper, syrup, honey oats, satsuma zest, brown sugar and some grassy touches, but most importantly - maltiness of amazing elegance and purity.

This 50 year old Speyside malt is fascinating in a number of ways, not least because it is such a rarity that a distillery can age a whisky for half a century, and do it well, a feat which Glenfarclas have managed here in style. The beautiful crystal decanter, in which this 50 year old malt is housed, is divine and the fact there were only 78 bottles yielded from the cask just adds to the wonder and excitement surrounding this fantastic limited edition release.
