Let's figure out what's included in this category, why all these devices are needed, and how to use these tools.

Why Accessories Matter

Have you ever noticed that the same wine can taste better in a fine restaurant than at home? The secret lies not only in the atmosphere and the food, but also in the right gadgets.

Good wine accessories are not a luxury, but a necessity – they reveal the true flavor of the drink.

Corkscrews and Capsule Cutters

Wine is so shrouded in a beautiful aura that even such a simple equipment as a corkscrew is sometimes transformed into a work of art, sometimes into a high-tech robot.

There are several types of corkscrews:

A simple iron spiral with a wooden or metal handle, these are almost never used today.

  • Butterfly, or Charles de Gaulle

The principle is simple: the spiral rotates into the cork, and as it sinks in, the spirals are lifted from both sides by two levers.

  • Rabbit

Like the "butterfly," the age of the lever opener is upon us. First, the lever is lowered to screw in the spiral, then the lever is raised and the cork is pulled out.

  • Gypsy corkscrew

This handle is attached to it by two fixed plates. These plates are carefully inserted between the neck of the bottle and the cork, gripping the cork and gently extracting it.

  • Electric

It's very simple here – there are two buttons: one is pressed to screw the spiral into the cork, the other to pull the cork out.

  • Sommelier Knife

The sommelier knife really does look like a folding knife; it has everything you need: a small knife for cutting the foil on the neck of the bottle, a spiral, and one or two elbows to use when pulling the cork.

Here, everyone chooses for themselves; even simple sommelier knives can be designer.

Decanters and Aerators

Once you open the container, oxidation and evaporation processes begin. Volatile aromatic compounds are released, imparting a distinct flavor and aroma to the wine.

In other words, aeration occurs - the wine literally breathes, revealing a deep, noble aroma. Subtle floral, woody, and herbal notes - you're unlikely to detect in a red wine or white wine that haven't had time to breathe properly.

To help wine reveal its full potential, specialized vessels - decanters and aerators - are used as essentials.

A wine aerator is a device that saturates the drink with oxygen (aerates) to soften the taste and aroma.

Stoppers and Advanced Systems

The main purpose of a stopper is to securely seal the bottle and extend the life of unfinished wine.

The outer part of a classic bottle stopper is made of rubber, silicone, or another elastic material, with a plastic push button inserted in the center, which acts as an air pump.
