Whiskey Advocate
Distilled in Ardbeg’s historic still that was retired in 2001 after 51 years of service, this vintage has a sweet and zesty nose with coal soot, honey-lemon lozenges, Peppermint Pattie, and traces of black licorice. Silky smooth on the tongue, with sweet vanilla, lemon, peppermint creams, doughnut custard, ashy peat smoke, and orange pith, with creamy coffee, aniseed, and vanilla on the finish. No water needed.

Compatibility
This whisky is ideal for enjoying neat.
Color
Pale amber.
Scent
The aroma is herbal, sweet and fragrant, with a subtle, distant perfumed smoke. Then a quirky, piquant note appears, similar to lemon balm, along with hints of linseed oil and candied walnuts. When water is added, the aroma intensifies, radiating heather honey, a hint of creosote and the tiniest trace of tent linen.
Taste
The texture is effervescent, with a real bright fizz on the tongue. The taste is intensely sweet at first, then changes as notes of anise, toffee, herbal biscuit, mint, menthol, tar and coffee bean break through. The sooty/resinous flavour continues to build until it finally dissolves into a long, lingering finish of antiseptic candy, bitter oranges and oak tannins.
