James Suckling
Complex nose of macerated violets, dark chocolate, plums and red cherries, with earthy and peppery minerality. The attack is austere, with firm, velvety tannins, a full body and crisp acidity balanced by great fruit concentration. A tight-knit structure with an elegant aftertaste of toasty chocolate. Drinkable now, but best with another five or six years of bottle age.
Wine Spectator
Sleek and sinewy, integrating fine-grained, structured tannins with flavors of crushed cherry and cranberry fruit, blood orange peel, and minerally iron and smoke notes. This fresh, focused red opens nicely in the glass, revealing a fragrant thread of Mediterranean macchia, anise, smoked paprika and milled pepper that lingers on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2037. 300 cases made, 100 cases imported.
