James Suckling
A splendid rosé, driven and tense. It shows notes of lemon tea, melon, fresh apricots, wild herbs and some rocks. Medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity. Seductive and succulent, with a stream of acidulated fruit on the palate framed harmoniously and funneling into the long finish. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator
Fleshy yellow plum, cherry and clementine notes are salty and concentrated in this lushly styled, delicious rosé. Much more than a poolside sipper, this brims with range, depth and energy, while heather, chamomile and saline energy grace the drawn-out, saline-streaked finish. Grenache, Rolle and Syrah. Drink now through 2028. 3,000 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
Description
Compatibility
Chateau d'Esclans Garrus Rosé 2023 is a premium rosé wine from Provence, suited to refined aperitif service as well as the table. Its structure and depth make it particularly well matched with shellfish, grilled prawns, fine Mediterranean dishes, veal, poultry, and delicately prepared sushi or sashimi.
Serve well chilled to highlight its freshness and texture. It is an excellent choice for warm-weather entertaining, elegant lunches, and occasions where a rosé with greater breadth and gastronomic appeal is preferred.
Color
In the glass, Garrus shows the pale, luminous colour associated with top Provençal rosé. Its appearance is clear and polished, with a delicate blush tone that reflects a carefully made, contemporary style.
Scent
The nose is fine and layered, with a profile centred on fresh red berries, citrus, and subtle floral notes. Aeration brings added nuance and a discreet creamy or lightly spiced impression, giving the wine added dimension without excess weight.
Taste
The palate is dry, focused, and textured, combining freshness with notable concentration. Red fruit, citrus, and a gently savoury mineral character sit within a smooth, precise frame, giving the wine both immediacy and depth.
The finish is long and clean, with balanced acidity and a polished mouthfeel. Chateau d'Esclans Garrus Rosé 2023 is a serious rosé intended not only for casual enjoyment, but also for more considered food pairings and elevated service.
