2021 is considered one of the estate's most successful vintages of recent years, magnificently reflecting the style of Haut-Brion in cooler years. The wine combines concentration, freshness and complexity with a refined structure. Chateau Haut-Brion is the oldest of the five First Growths of the 1855 classification. It is distinguished by a particular style with characteristic smoky, tobacco and mineral shades, which appear even in young vintages. Haut-Brion has traditionally shown a silkier, deeper and more sensual texture, which is revealed especially vividly in the 2021 vintage.

    It shows at its best with duck, veal, braised game, dishes with porcini, truffle and aged cheeses. The wine's minerality, smoky nuances and lively freshness make it a particularly harmonious accompaniment to elegant cuisine with complex aromatics.

    Deep dark cherry colour with intense purple hues.

    The complex, expressive nose unfolds with notes of blackcurrant, dark berries and dark chocolate, complemented by shades of cigar box, hazelnut, smouldering embers and struck matches. With aeration the nose becomes even more multi-layered and refined.

    Full-bodied, deep and velvety palate with ripe tannins and lively acidity. Dark berries, mineral and earthy shades unfold gradually, preserving freshness and the signature elegance. The finish is long and exceptionally harmonious.

This is beautifully crafted and very perfumed, with ultra-fine tannins and vivid dark fruit such as blackcurrants, as well as dark chocolate, hazelnuts and hints of forest floor, mushrooms, tar, matchstick and oyster shells. Drink or hold.
