Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2016 is one of the estate's outstanding vintages, awarded the maximum 100 points by Robert Parker and James Suckling. 2016 offered ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, making it possible to create a wine with exceptional ripeness of tannins, vivid acidity and outstanding balance. Since 1945 every Chateau Mouton Rothschild label has been designed by a well-known artist. For the 2016 vintage the work was created by William Kentridge, a contemporary artist known for his graphic and cinematic work. His black-and-white composition for Mouton 2016 reflects the themes of memory, movement and time. The Magnum format is particularly prized for the slower and more harmonious development of the wine, which allows it to preserve freshness, structure and aromatic complexity for longer.

Tobacco, dark chocolate, black currants, wet earth and wet leaves on the nose. This is exceptional, structured yet toned down by remarkable detail and length, complemented by vibrant acidity. Focused and precise, with delineated fruit, acidity and tannins all adding definition and length. Approachable now, but best in another five years. 10 Years On retrospective.
Wine Spectator
A generous, pure and lush ball of Cabernet, with wave after wave of unadulterated cassis and blackberry puree flavors rolling through. Features notes of roasted apple wood and sweet tobacco, offset by a long tug of sweet earth, but that's all background music to the impressive core of fruit, which steams along like a cruise ship with enough stores in reserve to go around the world twice without stopping.
