The 2002 harvest is considered one of the greatest in the modern history of Champagne thanks to its almost perfect balance of ripeness, acidity and concentration. It is this vintage that many collectors call one of the most harmonious and long-lived for Dom Perignon of recent decades. The signature style of the house is expressed here especially vividly through complex smoky and slightly reductive shades, which are an important part of the identity of Dom Perignon. After many years of ageing on the lees the champagne acquires greater depth, creaminess and complexity, while preserving a surprising energy. P2 is released only for selected vintages capable of reaching a new level after long ageing on the lees. Because of the limited production, the high standing of the 2002 vintage and the particular rarity of the Magnum format, this release is considered one of the most desirable champagnes of the house of Dom Perignon.

  • Compatibility

It is especially harmonious with sea urchin, langoustines, dishes with saffron, creamy sauces, aged cheeses and cuisine with pronounced saline and spicy shades. The champagne's rich texture and iodine minerality highlight the depth of seafood and complex creamy nuances especially strikingly.

  • Color

Intense golden-yellow colour with noble amber highlights.

  • Scent

The complex, exotic nose unfolds with notes of candied fruit, apricot, mango, sweet spices and saffron. As it develops, shades of sea breeze, iodine minerality, smoke, fresh pastry and light nutty nuances appear.

  • Taste

The creamy, almost buttery texture is combined with lively energy, the freshness of green citrus and saline minerality. Notes of cream, hazelnut, walnut, spices and dried fruit move gradually into a very long, ample and multi-layered finish with subtle mineral shades.

James Suckling

Fantastic complexity and subtlety with light bread dough, lemon rind, spiced pear, aniseed and licorice on the nose. Full-bodied. Dense and silky textured. Ultra-fine bubbles. Flavorful and smooth finish. Drink and enjoy this late release.

Wine Spectator

This graceful, bright Champagne features a chime of Meyer lemon peel and mouthwatering acidity, with finely meshed flavors of baked yellow plum, pastry, pickled ginger and smoke-laced mineral that intensify as they expand on the lightly mouthcoating and creamy mousse. Seamlessly knit, this is hard to stop sipping as it dances across the palate.
