Description
Compatibility
A wine for roast and grilled red meat, game and mature hard cheeses. Decant well ahead of serving; in magnum it will keep developing for many years.
Color
Dark ruby with a nearly opaque core.
Scent
Mulberry, black cherry and currant, opening in the glass onto Mediterranean herbs, wood-fire embers, dark chocolate and sweet tobacco.
Taste
Superb structure and balance, with finely judged ripe tannins, a reserved intensity and real depth of flavour. Saffredi is Fattoria Le Pupille's flagship from the Maremma: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in French oak, 70% new. 1.5-litre magnum in a wooden box.
