Argonne Rose 2013 is one of the rarest and most ambitious Champagnes of the house of Henri Giraud, made exclusively from Grand Cru grapes of the village of Ay - one of the greatest terroirs of Champagne. The Argonne cuvée holds a special place in the philosophy of the house: the Champagne is aged in small barrels made from the wood of the Argonne forest, historically used for the finest wines of France as far back as the days of the royal cellars. It is this rare wood that gives the wine its particular textural depth, fine smoky shades and characteristic complexity. Many collectors compare Argonne Rose to the great still wines rather than to Champagnes, thanks to their structure, depth and ability to unfold in layers in the glass. Argonne Rose is produced only in the best years and in very small quantities. For the 2013 vintage, around 990 bottles were released for the whole world.

  • Compatibility

Pairs perfectly with duck, tuna tartare, truffle dishes, mushrooms and aged cheeses. The vinous structure of this Champagne underlines particularly beautifully the complex spicy and iodine shades of haute cuisine.

  • Color

Deep copper-pink colour with amber glints.

  • Scent

A very expressive nose unfolds with notes of orange zest, red apples and rose petals, complemented by shades of red berries, spices and a light earthiness. With aeration, smoky and woody nuances appear, characteristic of ageing in Argonne oak.

  • Taste

A deep and multi-layered Champagne with an elegant texture and an almost vinous depth. The palate combines red berries, citrus zest, spices, minerality and delicate woody shades, moving into a long and complex finish.
