Whiskey Advocate
Whisky Advocate (Jonny McCormick): a perfumed, floral nose of candied cherry, baking spice, dried apple and baked citrus; the palate layers stewed orchard fruit, clove and toffee, lifted by pomegranate and melon and warmed by cinnamon, plum and a hint of chili, before a finish of ripe plum and soft spice.
Description
Compatibility
Serve neat at room temperature (20–22 °C) or over a single large ice cube. Pairs with fruit tarts, milk chocolate, nut-based desserts and mild soft cheeses.
Color
Deep amber.
Scent
Floral, orchid-like nose with rose, jasmine, peony and orange blossom, followed by vanilla, chocolate, caramel and honeydew melon.
Taste
Fresh floral and fruity notes with a creamy, chocolate texture, ending nutty with cinnamon and wood. LÁN means “orchid” in Chinese; the whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels, port casks and STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) wine casks and bottled at 43% ABV.
