The Macallan 30 Years Old Fine Oak belongs to the Fine Oak range, which brought together whisky matured in European and American oak casks that had previously held sherry or bourbon. After three decades in cask the result is lighter and more elegant than the classic Sherry Oak style, with no added colour: its deep amber comes from the wood alone. The range has since been discontinued, which makes the 30-year-old a sought-after bottle for collectors.

Compatibility

Best neat, at room temperature (20–22 °C), in a tulip glass. Pairs with dark chocolate, roasted nuts and a fine cigar.

Scent

Rich, exotic and heady, reminiscent of an orange grove.
Taste

Rich, with macadamia nut and vanilla, hints of sandalwood and black cherry, and a soft, silky, very elegant finish. Bottled at 43% ABV.
