Masseto IGT 1998

This is a good example of how the 1998 vintage was better in the region of Bolgheri than 1997. It shows superb fruit with berry and chocolate character and hints of nuts and dark fruit. It's still full-bodied with chewy yet polished tannins. This is tight and like a wine 10 years younger. Decant three or four hours before serving.

The wine goes well with roasted or grilled meats, spicy dishes, game and aged cheeses.
Color
The wine is an opaque ruby-purple color.
Scent
The wine has a sweet aroma with notes of oak, black raspberry, blackberry, currant, undergrowth and licorice.
Taste
The wine has a luxurious taste with dominant notes of raspberry jam and enveloping tannins, emphasizing a rich, long finish with hints of roasted coffee beans and vanilla. Very high endurance potential.
